Sharing

What would you love to share in 2026?
&
How can sharing become a bigger part of Team collaboration?

During the Christmas time we ‘spent’ a wonderful time in England with the family.

Actually, ‘spent’ is maybe not the appropriate word, although of course lots is SPENT at Christmas time.

Let’s start again.

During the christmas time we ‘shared’ a wonderful time in England with the family.

It was really a precious time, to be together, to connect, to share gifts and wonderful meals. When I got back to NL I ran 5 times last week, it was needed after ALL the wonderful meals. :-))

During one of the meals I was sat with two of my nieces, who are aged 19 and 23. The younger one is at University and the elder has recently started her career. We were ‘sharing’ stuff that we’d been doing in 2025, e.g. one of them, had watched 98 films, so had just 2 more to watch before the end of the year. Wow, that’s a lot of films, she gave me some advice on the BEST ONES to catch up on and I went to the cinema a couple of times last week, to follow her advice.

During our conversation, I started telling my nieces about my exciting new concept, Skillful Collaboration that I’d developed for teams, to help team learn / grow the human skills of collaboration?

The younger niece looked at me, and said, ”Really, learning about collaboration, I learnt that when I was in primary school.”

At this response, I was a bit crestfallen. That can happen, when put in our place by young nieces. πŸ™‚

But, I managed to stay curious and asked, “Ah that’s amazing, what did you learn back then?”

”Well, we learned to ‘share’ of course!” she replied.

And WOW! This was really an insight for me.

Through our childhood, of course we learn to share! This is partly related to our instict of belonging through building relationships, lots to do with empathy development and of course influenced by our cultural and family context.

‘Sharing’ is a skill that we learn as children. But somewhere along the way, it seems to me, that we’ve (often) forgotten how to use and practice this skill, especially in our teams and workplaces.

I believe that ‘Sharing’ can be a big step towards building connections and building teams who grow the human skills of collaboration.

Can you imagine the impact of openly sharing in teams and across teams?

With this insight, I’ve also decided that ‘Sharing’ will be my mindset for 2026!

I’m planning to do lots of sharing, here on the blog and on LinkedIn and let’s see what emerges!

Also in my broader life I’m also gonna do more sharing.

See the image, that’s our new car!

Green wheels is a car ‘sharing’ company based in the Netherlands, they are amazing! I no longer need to buy a car, I just jump on their app and reserve one for anything from 15 minutes and up to a few days.

How cool is that for sharing!

So my friends:

What would you love to share in your teams and in your lives in 2026?
